Always-On Sauna

What Is An Always-On Sauna?

The always-on sauna has a large heat reservoir. It is the most expensive and is used in public saunas. It has an electric heat source, but other heat sources are known to be used in an always-on sauna, such as infrared sauna heaters.

An infrared sauna heater uses infrared waves to send the heat directly to the body. In addition, in some models you can even place the heater to concentrate on a particular portion of the body. An Infrared Sauna heater is available in the traditional version also, turning your sauna into an always on sauna. The heater heats up the steam, rocks, and the room like a traditional sauna. The advantages of this type of heater is quick heat up time that some always on sauna heaters use.

A Finnish sauna is generally silent and dark. The temperature is always between 80°C (176°F) and 110°C (230°F). The hottest saunas, including the always-on sauna, have low levels of humidity in which steam is generated by pouring water on hot stones. The second water is poured into the heater, steam is released into the always-on sauna. This allows boil water temperatures to be tolerated and enjoyed longer. The heater is set to bring the sauna to 180°F (85°C), a comfortable temperature, which, with the thermostat, can be adjusted.

Hydrotherapy, using various resources such as the always-on sauna, has been used to treat rheumatic diseases.

In Finland, garments such as swimsuits and towels were rarely worn in Finnish saunas. Families go into the sauna together, and this is not considered eccentric as this is an old tradition. In a private Finnish sauna, towels or swimsuits are never worn. In a public Finnish sauna, men and women go to separate saunas, although both sexes may sometimes steam bathe together. To this day, in Finland, saunas are not associated with sexuality and sex. In fact, the Finnish sauna has been a sacred place, after the church, and if a house could afford one, they generally had one built. Women used to give birth in a Finnish sauna because it was a sterile and warm environment, right up into the 20th century.

With an always-on sauna, the experience is generally from twenty minutes to two hours. The temperature is generally set for curative purposes to 150°C. Following exposure, a general bath is administered or taken. The always-on sauna causes sweating, which is a secretion of the body's impurities.
